Daily Reflection – Gratitude & Self-Honesty
I woke up around 3:30 this morning. The park was crowded last night, so I didn’t fall asleep until late, but something stirred me awake before the stars disappeared. By 3:45, I was already on the mat.
Today’s practice was deep. As I moved through my yoga and push-ups, I felt a new awareness — almost like my body was teaching me how to tighten my muscles and breathe more fully. Six hundred push-ups and yoga stretched over nearly three hours. Every moment was a reminder of discipline and devotion.
When I looked up, the stars were still shining. That alone felt like a blessing.
Afterward, I walked to church. The readings came from the Book of Judges and the Gospel of Matthew. I held onto my chant: “I am a billionaire.” Not just in money, but in spirit, in peace, in gratitude.
Later, I went to my first AA meeting. The topic was self-honesty — a powerful reminder that this path is about truth, both to ourselves and others. I shared a little about my journey, then moved on to my NA meeting, where I also had a chance to speak.
Throughout the day, I felt a steady peace. I napped in the park, did some writing, and reflected on life. Even when I wasn’t “doing much,” I felt full — because the real practice is living with honesty, presence, and gratitude.
Now, as I prepare for my last AA meeting of the day, I carry with me the lessons of yoga, scripture, chanting, and fellowship. Life continues to meet me where I am, and every day I am reminded: discipline is freedom, and gratitude is wealth.
With peace,
Ade Olude
