Monday Reflection – The Body Is Wisdom
This morning, I rose around 4 o’clock with quiet gratitude in my heart. The air was still, the world was silent, and I could feel the energy of the full moon guiding me before the light of dawn. As I began my practice, I felt a deep knowing within me — that yoga itself is wisdom, and the body is the teacher.
When I started my push-ups, something unexpected happened. My body moved into a new posture I had never entered before. It wasn’t something I planned — it was as if my body led me there on its own, showing me a hidden door within my strength. That moment blew me away. I realized that with this new posture, I might soon reach my 1,000 push-ups again. But more than that, I felt that today’s yoga was the real lesson. The movement, the breath, and the surrender were all part of a larger teaching — a reminder that everything I need to know is already inside the body.
After my morning run, my body felt tired, yet deeply alive. The fatigue was not a sign of weakness; it was a sign of learning, of listening, of surrender. The full moon appeared above me for a brief moment — shining bright, then disappearing into the clouds — just like the wisdom that reveals itself for a moment during practice, then retreats to invite deeper reflection.
I found myself wishing I had a teacher to guide me through what I am feeling, but perhaps this is the teaching itself. Nature has become my guru — the moon, the air, the stillness, and the exhaustion all whisper lessons that cannot be found in any book. Today’s yoga reminded me how little I truly know, and how infinite the wisdom of the body truly is.
Every breath, every push-up, every posture is a message.
Yoga is not something I do; yoga is what teaches me.
And today, it taught me surrender.
